At ROLdoûr, we offer bespoke doors made to order, tailored to your specific needs. To ensure you get the correct size and fit, follow this guide carefully.

Measurement Instructions

Outer Edge Frame Size: The measurements you provide should be for the outer edge frame size, not the door opening size.

Precise Measurements: We can build to any millimetre (mm) height or width. Measure twice to ensure accuracy. Note that while the width can be trimmed, the height cannot be adjusted after ordering.

Ordering Process-

Choose Frame Colour: Select your desired frame colour first.

Select Closest Size: Pick the set size that is closest to your required dimensions (round up if necessary to allow for trimming).

Provide Exact Dimensions: Enter your exact height and width in millimetres in the provided text boxes.

Select Fabric Colour: Choose your preferred fabric colour.

Measuring and Fitting Tips -

Reasons to recess the frame between the opening:

Maximised Space Utilisation

A recessed installation ensures the door frame sits flush within the opening, saving valuable space in small areas like campervans, RVs, or tiny homes. This is particularly beneficial when every millimetre counts.

Seamless Aesthetic

Recessing the door provides a clean and streamlined appearance, as the frame blends into the recess. This creates a more polished and professional look, ideal for modern and minimalist designs.

Improved Functionality

A recessed frame helps keep the door secure and aligned, ensuring smooth operation over time. It also reduces the risk of the frame being accidentally knocked or damaged.

Custom Fit for Unique Spaces

Recessed installations are ideal for custom spaces where the frame can be tailored to fit snugly within the opening, providing a bespoke solution.

Reduced Drafts

A recessed door frame helps minimise gaps that could let in drafts, making it a more energy-efficient choice for insulated or climate-controlled spaces.

Reasons to have an inside overlap fitting behind the opening:

Enhanced Water Containment

The inside overlap fitting ensures the waterproof fabric overlaps the edges of the recess, creating a better seal to prevent water from leaking outside the shower area. This is especially important in wet environments like campervans and RVs.

Clean and Minimalist Look

By overlapping the recess walls, the fitting hides any imperfections in the opening and provides a sleek, seamless appearance. This is perfect for achieving a polished and professional finish.

Maximised Walk-Through Opening

Unlike recessed fittings, the inside overlap fitting slightly extends beyond the recess, making the most of the available space and maximising the walk-through width.

Easier Installation

Inside overlap fittings are generally easier to install as they do not require precise recessing into the frame. This makes them a great option for DIY projects or uneven openings.

Improved Compatibility

This fitting style is more forgiving for irregular or slightly out-of-square openings, ensuring the door fits securely while maintaining functionality.

Reduced Water Ingress

The overlap creates an additional barrier against water ingress, especially when paired with proper silicone sealing along the edges.

Versatility

Inside overlap fittings work well in a variety of settings, including campervans, motorhomes, and tiny homes, where space constraints and water management are key considerations.

Create a 30mm high upstand/splashback in front of the bottom track to keep water inside the shower area. Alternatively, apply clear silicone to the track corners during frame assembly to prevent water leakage. We now recommend fitting a 30mm to 35mm lip in front of the bottom track. To fit the ROLdoûr frame effectively, incorporating a 30mm or 35mm lip/water barrier upstand (Not included) is crucial to ensure optimal functionality and ease of maintenance.

Here’s the guidance:

Option 1: 30mm Lip / Water Barrier Upstand

When to use: Ideal if you plan to bond the ROLdoûr frame directly onto the shower tray.

  • Advantages: Keeps the bottom track at the same level as the tray for a sleeker look. It also allows for a drainage hole to be created along the inside of the bottom track.
  • Considerations: Ensure precise placement of the drainage hole to prevent water buildup. Cleaning might require more attention due to potential water retention along the track.

Option 2: 35mm Lip / Water Barrier Upstand

  • When to use: Recommended for elevating the ROLdoûr frame 5mm above the tray.
  • Advantages: Ensures faster drainage and prevents water pooling. Makes cleaning easier underneath the ROLdoûr frame. Provides additional water sealing and a more robust barrier against leakage.
  • Considerations: A slightly elevated frame may require careful alignment.

ROLdoûr Fitting Recommendation:

For better performance and ease of cleaning, the 35mm lip/water barrier upstand is the preferred choice. It enhances drainage efficiency and minimises maintenance concerns by allowing better access beneath the frame. Ensure proper alignment during installation to maintain the integrity of the water barrier and achieve a seamless fit.

Frame Measurements of the ROLdoûr:

  • Lower Track: 30mm height x 20mm depth
  • Top Track: 30mm height x 20mm depth
  • Cartridge: 60mm width x 50mm depth
  • Handle: 45mm width
  • Combined Cartridge and Handle Width: 105mm from outside edge to inside the frame
  • End Frame Door Stop: 15mm width x 20mm depth

For instance, a 450mm wide door would give you a 325mm walk-through opening after accounting for the cartridge, handle, and door stop widths.

Installation Tips

Shower Door in Campervan: Drill drainage holes in the lower frame for proper water flow. If fitting inside a timber frame, ensure water drains into the shower tray.

Silicone Sealing: Apply silicone to all corner joints and around the door-to-timber frame to prevent leaks.

Important Note

DO NOT install the track below the shower tray as this will prevent proper drainage.
